Plant Medicine

Your body is asking for plant allies.

Your answers suggest you may feel drawn to gentle, natural ways of soothing your body and your symptoms (like cramps, tension, or disrupted sleep around your period). Herbal traditions have accompanied women’s cycles for centuries, and there is a lot of science to uncover behind each plant. The best results come when plants are chosen thoughtfully and personally, not by trend. When it comes to plant medicine, we have a lot of unlearning to do in order to understand and use the plants properly.

Of course, plant medicine serves as a supporting tool. No one experiences dysregulated cycles because of a lack of chamomile! However, plants can come in for support when the body is having a hard time figuring things out on its own.

One important thing: Herbs are powerful. They can interact with medications, hormonal contraception, pregnancy, and breastfeeding. Please check with your doctor or pharmacist before adding any herb to your routine. If you want personalized advice and recommendations, book a free 1:1 call here. We may decide to try 1:1 work if we see the need for it.

A woman who is connected to nature is unstoppable.

Three small things to try this week

  1. Go for a walk in your garden or in the forest, and try to pay attention to the plants around you. Do any spark your interest? See if you can learn to identify one or two plants in the wild.

  2. Try one cup of stinging nettle tea. What do you think of the taste? Nettle is a highly mineralizing herb that is safe for most women and has quite a unique flavor. Notice how your body responds to it.

  3. If you have any essential oils, try to start your day by smelling one of them (unless you are pregnant). Take a few deep breaths and notice how your body responds to the smell.

Before you move on, one important thing.

Your period is not supposed to hurt, and it deserves to be properly looked at. If you experience intense and life-disrupting symptoms such as severe pain, very heavy bleeding, missing periods, bleeding between periods, or symptoms that are getting worse, this might indicate underlying causes that deserve a medical check-up. Please book an appointment with a doctor or gynecologist if this is your case.

Natural approaches can be a wonderful companion to medical care, but never a replacement for it. Your result is a place to start alongside that, not instead of it.

Please understand that my work at Spotless Girl is not a replacement for medical care or professional therapy.
